Laszlo was such a legend. I'm surprised there isn't more blogging about him! I would have loved to learn about cinematography from such a master.

I had the pleasure of seeing "Torn from the Flag" at a film festival recently. The multi-award-winning documentary thriller, is about one of the most remarkable events in modern history. This sensational film was made in close collaboration with Hollywood legends Laszlo Kovacs and Vilmos Zsigmond and includes footage by both. Torn from the Flag was Laszlo Kovacs’ last work as Director of Photography. The producer Klaudia Kovacs (no relation), did an amazing job depicting a truthful reflection of history while still keeping the film artistic, fast paced, emotional. Oh, and did I mention the music? - You'll fall in love with that too.

You'll always have hoops, buddy... That being said, the Sooners (Jr) are getting a lot of hype this year in the B12 pre-season polls and whatnot.

I watched the second half of the football game from a hotel room in Biarritz. I'm such a fucking junkie.

The last film Laszlo Kovacs worked on is the documentary "Torn From The Flag" about the Hungarian uprising of 1956 against the communist regime.

Laszlo and friend, cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond, risked their lives by secretly filming events during this bloody revolution. When they were forced to flee the country across Austria-Hungary border they took with them their ~30,000 feet of film hidden in potato sacks. This is a must-see film for anyone who loves and appreciates Laszlo's work. You get to see what he and other Hungarians at the time went through. A great article on him I'd like to share: http://www.zap2it.com/movies/news/zap-laszlokovacsobit,0,2643637.story?track=rss

You can see a trailer of "Torn From The Flag" on YouTube:
