Congratulations, the item is yours!

Pulled the trigger on a pair of vintage Adidas Stafan Edberg’s this week. Edberg was my favorite player in the mid-80’s; he and Mats Wilander. I had at least two pair of these when i was in middle school. This too…

UPDATE: Shoes came to my work today, half-size too small. Bummer.

Part deco

Finally getting around to painting the new place. Bathroom was first. Not a lot you can do with pink tiles and a blue/white floor, so we opted for the art deco thing:

A’s game

September 2, 2008

Corinne and i both needed to blow off some steam last weekend – she from a hectic week at the library and me from having attended SAA – so we decided to take in a last-minute A’s game. Along for the ride was a friend visiting from Philly who, we should mention, had already taken in Padres and Dodgers games prior to making his way north for the conference. (Impressive.)

I love the sense of anticipation this view creates as you walk into any stadium..

While not impressive in the, say, Fenway or even old-Busch way..

McAfee has its own charms, not the least of which are the genuinely engaged and highly entertaining fans.

Like this father/son, horn/drum duo here..

These Twins fans sneaked down from a couple rows ahead of us and ended up getting booted..

..but soon thereafter found a crew of fellow Minnessotans to kick it with.

I can’t help but root for the Twins, however latently. They’re hard to have strong feelings against; in any capacity, really, other than maybe those inspired by a geographic rivalry. (But, shit man, even then..)

Good guys won in pretty dramatic fashion, having scored twice(!) on a poorly-fielded sac bunt in the bottom of the ninth. After which point we headed down to the field to check out some fireworks.

Brian was stoked: Third Fourth ballpark in almost as many days. (I forgot about the Giants.)

Corinne snaps a covert self-p. (Of course, i’m flyin’ a Royals cap.)

An anxious populous awaits..

This.

At one point there were about twelve or so of these in a row and after each the person behind me (an adult) felt it necessary to say, “smiley face” …… “smiley face” …… “smiley face” ……

The herd makes its way off the field.

Of course, no [enter activity here] would be complete without a trip to Toronado for a night-cap.
